contention protocols, wireless networks, performance analysis

Jaume Barcelo's research interests are in the field of contention MAC protocols for wireless networks. He proposed the use of a deterministic backoff after successful transmissions to reduce the number of collisions. Jaume is currently with the NeTS research group, DTIC department, Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He received an A4U postdoctoral grant to spend two years with Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. His Ph.D. is from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, his M. Eng. from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya and his B. Eng from Universitat de les Illes Balears. He also spent some time as a research assistant at Technishe Universitaet Kaiserslautern, and participated in interhip programs with HP, Air Europa Airlines and ID Tech Camps.
